Historic City of Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya province in Thailand. The city was founded in 1350 by King U Thong,(King Ramathibodi) Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. Destroy by Burmese army in 1767 (18th century). In 1969 the Fine Arts Department began with renovations of the ruins, which became more serious after it was declared a historical park in 1976. The park was declared a UNESCO World heritage site in 1991. Ayutthaya is named after the city of Ayodhya in India, the birthplace of Rama in the Ramayana.
